We aim to diversify our membership so that our organization reflects a range of experiences, knowledge, areas of expertise, and backgrounds; create a more welcoming, inclusive, and equitable We are responsible for overseeing the application process, as well as recruiting new members across a range of experiences, knowledge, areas of expertise, and backgrounds. Our goal is to create a more welcoming, inclusive, and equitable organization by means of our application process and membership requirements. 

Additionally, the membership committee works across several subcommittees to manage, engage, and retain our membership. Our Database Subcommittee manages the AALA’s internal membership records and monitors the growth of the organization. Our New Member Subcommittee hosts regular mixers for recently admitted members to connect them with others in the organization, including our Matchmaking Subcommittee, who is responsible for recruiting new volunteers to our various committees. Our Awards Subcommittee works to acknowledge the hard work of our membership both within and outside the organization.

The Membership committee is composed of 7-12 members, and must always include two co-chairs (serving two year terms) and a liaison to the organization’s board of directors. Our ranks are currently full, but check back here in the future if you are interested in joining our committee.
