Ariana Philips

Jean V. Naggar Literary Agency

Ariana Philips is a literary agent at the Jean V. Naggar Literary Agency, where she represents both fiction and nonfiction for adult and kid's books. She’s interested in literary and commercial fiction, particularly upmarket women’s fiction, stories with unique family dynamics, and historical hooks. She likes gritty stories that have a well-crafted plot and carefully developed characters. She’s also on the hunt for smart romantic comedies, both for the adult and YA markets. In nonfiction, she’s interested in pop culture, popular history, and science; illustrated gift books; true crime; sports; social issues; and cookbooks and food narratives. In YA and middle grade, she’s looking for contemporary stories with a strong hook and voice. She loves to find new talent and work with her clients to develop strong proposals and manuscripts. Her personal agenting philosophy is to take on an author for the duration of their career and help guide them through the ever-changing publishing landscape. Born and raised in New York City, she attended Iona College, where she graduated with honors in English and Communications.
